For
those of our customers, such as artists that want to sell prints or
enlargements, that want some or all of their slides to be scanned at a
higher resolution than most people need, we do offer this added service. We
recommend that most people do NOT need to have their slides scanned at this
higher resolution. Our regular scanning service is quite adequate for 99% of
the jobs that we work on. If you want to see for yourself, please try our Ten
free sample scan and demo dvd playable disk. Scanning at these higher
resolutions is simply overkill (and overpayment) for most people. These scans
are not made into a DVD playable slide show because of their size. We
will copy them to a CD or DVD data disk at our discretion.
A 35mm scan at 4800ppi will give you an image that is
20 inches by 13 inches at 300ppi
The same image could be printed out at high resolution at 40 inches by 26
inches given that 150ppi is still considered high resolution in
printing.
This image saved as a JPEG would be about 15 to 20 megs in size.
This image saved as a TIFF would be about 75 to 85 megs in size.
