Should You Take Your 35mm Slides To Walgreens or Old Photo?

Walgreens is a good drug store and also an adequate place to get your photo prints made but, Walgreens is NOT a competent slide scanning operation. Besides doing a completely inadequate job of scanning slides, you have no guarantee that they are not farming out your slides to some third party, which could be located anywhere in the world, to do the work. They are merely taking your order. They are shipping your slides off to someone else to do the work. Among other things, this is not good because you lose possession of your family heirlooms completely. You have no idea where your slides are at or who is working on them.

These scans are from a 127 Super Slide. Notice that the Walgreens scan is cropped down and you do not get the whole slide. Note the color corrections by A35ss' Photoshop artists. These scans are from a 126 size slide. 126 slides are almost square. Notice how Walgreens cropped the top and bottom off the scan and then left the black bars on the sides. We scan the whole 126 slide and we precision crop each image so there are no black bars or dirty edges.

These scans are from the 110 size slide. Notice how the Old Photo slide scan is zoomed in and the Walgreens slide scan has black on all sides. Also notice how the highlights and details of the Walgreens scan are all blown away. Our final 110 slide scans will be the same size as regular 35mm images.
