Use this page to identify the slides in your collection and preview how final scans look. We now scan at true 4000 ppi for crisp detail and clean color. Click any thumbnail to see an example page.
35mm slides are small positive film frames (image area ~36×24 mm) mounted in 2″×2″ cardboard or plastic holders. They’re projected onto a screen or viewed in a handheld viewer. Slide size on the screen depends on the projection distance.
Color-negative film produces negatives for making prints. Color-reversal film (slide film) produces transparent positives that look like the original scene. These are cut and mounted as individual slides.
Many pre-show ads in older movie theaters were 35mm slides.
Half-frame images are smaller than standard 35mm frames. Please stack these separately from other formats so we can avoid cropping issues.
126 slides are square format. Separate these from 35mm to prevent incorrect framing or cropping.
Super Slides are 2″×2″ mounts with a larger film area. Warped film can be problematic to scan at full quality.
If your 127 film is visibly warped, results may be limited. You might consider trimming and remounting into a standard 35mm or 126 holder. More details on the 127 Super Slide page.
Yes, we scan stereo pairs (metal or cardboard). Learn more on our 3D Stereo Slides page.
The complete slide with paper carrier is typically 2.75″ × 2.75″. Please stack 120 slides separately from 35mm or 127.
Airequipt slides have metal sleeves which must be removed before scanning. We can do this for you if needed.
We can scan glass-mounted slides in place. If they’re disassembled, please keep parts together and protected.
Please stack each format separately (35mm, half-frame, 126, 127, 120, stereo, glass, Airequipt, etc.). Mixed stacks can cause cropping or framing errors and may add handling time.
