Kodak 35mm Slide Projectors
Kodak announced the end of 35mm slide projector manufacturing and accessories in 2004. Since then, bulbs and parts have become harder to find. If you still own slides in carousels or boxes, digitizing them is the most reliable way to preserve and share those memories.
Original Kodak notice (archival context)
— Eastman Kodak Company pre-disclosed plans to discontinue the manufacture and sale of slide projection products and accessories in 2004, including CAROUSEL, EKTAGRAPHIC, EKTALITE, and EKTAPRO projectors. Manufacturing ceased in June 2004, with limited availability afterward and time-limited service/support.
What that means for you
- Hardware is aging: Projectors and bulbs can be scarce and unreliable.
- Digital access is easier: Once scanned, slides are easy to view, share, and back up.
- Preservation: High-resolution scanning protects against loss, fading, and damage.
