APS Film (Advanced Photo System) — We Do Not Scan APS
We’re sorry—we do not scan or develop APS film. This page helps you identify APS, understand the cartridge symbols, and see which formats we do handle every day.
What is APS film?
APS (Advanced Photo System) is a 24 mm wide film format that comes in a single-spool plastic cartridge. The film remains in the cartridge even after development, and each cartridge has indicators showing the status of the film inside.
APS cartridges are compact and labeled with symbols that show whether the film is unexposed, partially exposed, fully exposed (not processed), or processed.
Cartridges and film strips share matching identifying numbers.
- Full circle: Unexposed
- Half circle: Partly exposed
- Cross: Fully exposed but not processed
- Square: Processed
Processed cartridges also have a punched tab indicating lab processing.
Service note
- We do not scan APS film and we do not develop film.
- We do scan many other formats, including: 35 mm slides, negatives (35 mm and others), 127 Super Slides, 110, 828, half-frame, and more.
- If you’re unsure about your film type, feel free to send us a photo and we’ll help identify it.
