Why use free USPS boxes?

The U.S. Postal Service offers free Priority Mail boxes you can pick up at your local post office or order online. They’re a great way to protect your slides and photos and keep shipping costs predictable.

There is often a 10-box minimum when ordering online, so many customers simply stop by their post office to grab a few free boxes.

The boxes are strong and free. You still have to pay for shipping.

Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes

Flat Rate boxes let you ship as much as fits in the box for one set price. Contents must be neatly contained and the box should close securely without being reshaped or enlarged.

  • Inside dimensions commonly include 11" × 8.5" × 5.5" and 13.625" × 11.875" × 3.375".
  • Seal with strong packaging tape; make sure the box holds its shape when taped.
