Organizing Your Photos and 35mm Slides for a TV Slide Show
Many TVs can play a slideshow from a USB flash drive. Check your TV’s manual to confirm USB slideshow support and file formats.
Organization is usually the hardest part. One smart approach is to scan first and organize on your computer—it’s faster than sorting physical slides one by one.
If you’d rather organize before scanning, you have three basic options:
- By date
- By subject or family
- By “collage” (skip sorting—just enjoy a randomized mix)
Organizing by Date or Subject
Photos: Work in a room with lots of floor space. Make piles and sort; a second opinion helps when estimating ages and events.
35mm Slides: Many mounts are date-stamped on the back. Use those print dates to group slides chronologically.
Collage Option (Quickest)
If sorting feels overwhelming, send your photos and slides for scanning and enjoy a surprise shuffle on your TV. You can always copy the images to your PC later and organize at your own pace.
Slides and Photos: Keep Separate Until After Scanning
Slides and paper photos run on different scanners. Combining both into one show beforehand adds labor and cost. It’s easier to merge after scanning.
