Warped or Bent Slides

Wondering if warped or bent slides can still be digitized? Yes—most can. Below we explain what “warped” means, why it happens, and how we scan these safely in-house.

Ready to get started? Submit your order form online and include a note if you suspect warping.

What We Consider “Warped or Bent”

Slides stored in humid conditions can curl. We also see bends caused by certain slide carousels—especially tight “Sawyer” types that hold slides firmly when the carousel is tilted upright. That pressure can leave a noticeable bow in the mount or film.

When a slide won’t pass smoothly through our automatic feeders, we switch to careful hand-feeding. This preserves your film but adds handling time.

Comparison: warped vs not-warped 35mm slides; bending often caused by tight Sawyer carousel slots

How We Scan Warped Slides

  • In-house only: We never outsource your originals.
  • Hand-fed where needed: Technicians guide problem slides through safely.
  • Color checked: Every image gets attention for pleasing color and exposure.
  • Resolution: Our 35mm standard is 4000 ppi.

Because warped slides require extra handling, turnaround can be a bit longer. For any fees related to special handling, please see our Order Forms.
