backs of slides face this way in the carousels
The fronts should face “counter clockwise” when viewed from the top of the carousel.

The slides go in upside down and the backs of the slides should be facing you when placed in the carousel and you are starting from the #1 slide slot and going clockwise around the carousel. In other words, the slide in the #1 slot should have its face towards the back of the #80 or #140 slide. The face of the slide will normally have the LOGO on it.

Backs are fairly blank; may have faint numbers or dates stamped. Some say “View From This Side”.

slide orientation back side
All slides should be placed with the film running widthwise.

Don't worry. We will turn the final image so that it views correctly on your computer or TV screen.

slide orientation turned
Do NOT orient the film “up” as shown here.

Lots of people choose to just send the carousels because it saves a lot of trouble. You can even tell the portrait slides that need to be rotated to landscape by holding the carousel at an angle. No need to take every slide out.

scanner scanniing area
The white box shows the scanner’s capture area. If you don’t rotate portrait slides, they’ll be cropped.
